Canadian gold producer B2Gold is strengthening its African portfolio as it targets 970,000 to 1,075,000 ounces of gold in 2025, with the majority of production coming from its mines in Mali and Namibia. The company will spotlight these operations at the upcoming African Mining Week (AMW), scheduled for 1–3 October 2025 in Cape Town.
B2Gold Namibia’s Country Manager John Roos will represent the company on the panel, discussing ‘Africa’s Gold Economy: Value, Processing and Global Market Positioning’. The discussion will gather leaders from across the sector to explore Africa’s gold opportunities, investment flows and market positioning in the global economy.
At its Otjikoto Mine in Namibia, B2Gold expects output of between 185,000 and 205,000 ounces in 2025. To sustain and expand production, the company has approved the development of the Antelope underground deposit. This expansion will extend the mine’s lifespan while adding up to 110,000 ounces per year once operational. B2Gold plans to invest at least $105 million between 2026 and 2027 to bring the project online.
In Mali, the Fekola Complex is projected to deliver 515,000 to 550,000 ounces of gold this year. The company is moving ahead with plans to develop nearby regional deposits, with an exploration permit expected by the end of Q3 2025. First production is targeted for early 2026, with an estimated 180,000 ounces per year during the project’s initial five years. The Fekola Mine itself is also expanding underground. In July 2025, B2Gold secured a license from the Malian government to advance underground operations, where production is already underway.
African Mining Week 2025 will serve as a critical platform for connecting African projects with global investors, showcasing opportunities across the gold value chain from exploration to processing. Roos will join representatives from the Chamber of Mines of Mali, South Africa’s Rand Refinery, Ghana’s Typhoon Goldfields, Araina Resources and other key stakeholders in debating the sector’s future.
The panel is expected to highlight both the challenges of sustaining competitiveness against fluctuating global prices and the opportunities for Africa to capture more value through processing and downstream development. With its flagship mines in Mali and Namibia, B2Gold is positioning itself as a central player in Africa’s gold economy. The company’s investment pipeline signals its long term confidence in the continent’s resources and its role in shaping the next chapter of Africa’s mining growth.
