Trigon Metals Inc. secured a crucial regulatory approval to sell its stake in the Kombat Mine in Namibia, bringing it closer to completing a deal that could restart operations at the copper and silver asset.
The Namibian Competition Commission granted its approval for the transaction with Horizon Corporation on September 12, 2025. This step marks a pivotal moment, as it signals the final stages of the sale, which was initially announced on May 29, 2025.
The approval clears a key hurdle for Horizon to take over the mine, which is expected to create jobs and contribute to the local economy. Richard Tayelor, a Director at Horizon, expressed gratitude for the timely decision and reiterated the company’s commitment to a “smooth project expansion phase and mine restart.”
Knowledge Katti, a founding shareholder in Trigon Namibia, noted that the deal ensures “continued community involvement through Epangelo Mining’s 10% shareholding,” reinforcing a commitment to sustainable development in the region.
Trigon, a Canadian exploration and development company, holds copper and silver assets in Africa, including the Kalahari Copperbelt Project in Namibia and exploration projects in Morocco. The sale of the Kombat Mine is a significant strategic move for the company. The transaction remains subject to final approval from the TSX Venture Exchange.
