Rhino Resources Joins AEW 2025 as Gold Partner

As a key player in Africa’s energy landscape, Rhino Resources has cemented its position by joining African Energy Week (AEW) Invest in African Energies 2025, taking place from 29 September – 3 October 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa as a Gold Partner. This participation will strengthen its commitment to upstream exploration in Namibia and South Africa.

The company’s involvement underscores its commitment to unlocking Africa’s hydrocarbon potential in support of AEW’s mission to eradicate energy poverty by 2030.Rhino Resources is driving an ambitious portfolio of exploration and appraisal campaigns, particularly in Namibia’s Orange Basin, as the country pursues its target of first oil by 2030. In 2025 alone, the company made several significant discoveries, including Sagittarius-1X and Capricornus-1X, cementing the basin’s status as a rising global deepwater hotspot.

In July 2025, Rhino spudded the Volans-1X well on Block PEL 85 offshore Namibia, a campaign involving 1,200 meters of drilling. The project, executed in partnership with Halliburton Namibia, also reinforces the company’s commitment to local content development and capacity-building in-country. Earlier in April 2025, Rhino announced that light oil tests at Capricornus-1X on Block 2914 yielded flow rates above 11,000 stock tank barrels per day (STB/d), with additional evaluations ongoing to shape its long-term exploration strategy.

This followed the February 2025 completion of the Sagittarius-1X well on the same block. To bolster its Namibian operations, Rhino signed a farmout agreement with Azule Energy in December 2024, bringing additional capital, technical expertise and global operating experience to Block 2914.While strengthening its footprint in Namibia, Rhino Resources is also advancing projects in South Africa. The company is preparing a six-well drilling campaign in the Karoo Basin, scheduled for 2026, targeting natural gas, helium and hydrogen resources. This program is expected to diversify South Africa’s energy mix, support domestic energy security and unlock new industrial growth opportunities.

“Rhino Resources’ operations and success in Namibia’s Orange Basin highlight the vast potential of Africa’s deepwater plays to drive energy security and economic growth. Additionally, the company’s planned investments in South Africa mark a significant step in unlocking the country’s untapped natural gas and helium resources, strengthening its role in Africa’s evolving energy landscape,” stated Tomás Gerbasio, Vice President of Commercial and Strategic Engagement at the African Energy Chamber.

At AEW 2025, Rhino Resources will participate in high-level panel discussions and exclusive networking sessions, engaging African policymakers, potential partners, market stakeholders and international investors. The company aims to showcase opportunities in Namibia’s Orange Basin while highlighting South Africa’s emerging gas developments.

As a Gold Partner, Rhino’s participation will further position the firm as a central player in Africa’s energy future while underscoring AEW’s role as the premier platform for forging deals and partnerships. By leveraging exploration success in Namibia and upcoming drilling in South Africa, Rhino Resources continues to demonstrate how private sector investment can accelerate the continent’s journey toward energy independence and inclusive economic growth.
