Trigon Metals Inc., a Toronto-based mining company, has shared encouraging results from its recent underground drilling efforts at Shaft 1 of the Kombat Mine in Namibia. The latest findings, conducted across Levels 1, 3, and 4, have extended the known mineralization in areas adjacent to historic workings, highlighting the potential for additional mineable tonnes near existing underground development.
Drill results from Level 1, located 45 meters below the surface, revealed notable mineralization. Two drill holes, KWO-238 and KWO-239, intersected significant grades, with KWO-239 showing 8 meters of mineralization at 10.44% copper and 35.34 grams per tonne of silver. These results were located roughly 24 meters from the closest historical drill holes, reinforcing the strength and continuity of the orebody along the Kombat trend.
On Level 3, approximately 105 meters from the surface, several drill holes provided valuable insights. KWO-242 intersected 3 meters of 6.81% copper and 87.83 grams per tonne of silver. Two additional holes, KWO-256 and KWO-257, drilled at shallow angles, defined vertical continuity of the mineralized zone, with intersections ranging between 1.40% and 6.81% copper.
Drilling on Level 4, about 120 meters from the surface, produced similarly promising results. Drill hole KWO04L-319 intersected 6 meters of mineralization at 2.15% copper and 41.20 grams per tonne of silver. Nearby, KWO04L-323 and KWO04L-324 encountered significant grades as well, including a 9-meter intersection at 1.94% copper and 21.73 grams per tonne of silver.
The company noted that these results not only extend the known mineralization but also bolster confidence in the mine’s resource and reserve models. The drilling was strategically focused on areas near existing infrastructure, paving the way for further development.
Jed Richardson, CEO and Executive Chairman, expressed optimism about the findings. He remarked that the combination of high-grade intersections and meaningful widths provides further assurance as the company works to identify and develop new stopes of high-grade copper ore.
All samples collected during this drilling campaign underwent rigorous quality assurance and control measures, with analysis conducted by African Laboratory Specialists Namibia, an independent laboratory based in Kombat. The assays adhered to ASTM standard procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability.
In addition to the drilling update, the company issued a correction regarding its January 20, 2025, press release. Clarifications were made to reflect the proper language surrounding the planned strategic sale of Trigon’s interest in the Kombat Mine to Horizon Corporation Ltd. Trigon currently holds an 80% interest in the Kombat Mine, which encompasses five mining licenses in Namibia’s Otavi Mountainlands.
Trigon also emphasized the forward-looking nature of its statements, acknowledging that ongoing plans and expectations are subject to risks and uncertainties. These include factors such as the economic viability of the Kombat Mine, the potential transaction with Horizon Corporation, and the ability to secure financing for future operations.
As Trigon continues its work at the Kombat Mine, the company remains focused on unlocking value for stakeholders while contributing to Namibia’s robust mining sector.
