NAMCOR Appoints Victoria Sibeya as Acting Managing Director

Victoria Sibeya has been appointed as the Acting Managing Director of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), with effect from April 1, 2025.  She succeeds Ebson Uanguta, who, after more than a year at NAMCOR, returns to his position at the Bank of Namibia.

Uanguta offered consistent leadership during his time, steering the company through a vital time and guaranteeing its mandate’s ongoing execution.  The NAMCOR Board of Directors thanked him for his efforts, therefore underlining his part in enhancing the standing of the company in Namibia’s expanding oil industry.

The board has given Sibeya responsibility for guiding the company throughout this transition whilst the hunt for a permanent Managing Director continues.

“We welcome Mrs. Sibeya to the helm of NAMCOR and look forward to her continued contributions as we advance the corporation’s strategic priorities,” says, Florentia Amuenje, Chairperson of the Namcor board.

Having worked with NAMCOR since 2006, Sibeya has almost twenty years of expertise in Namibia’s oil sector. She was currently holding a position as Executive for Upstream Exploration, a position she has held since 2019. Before that, she was Acting Executive for Exploration and Production from 2015 to 2019 and worked as an Asset Manager before that. She started her journey with NAMCOR  working as a geoscientist.

Her academic path shows her dedication to development; she holds degrees from the University of Namibia, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, and the University of Aberdeen, where she just finished an MBA.

Sibeya expressed her excitement about the new role, saying, ‘It is an absolute honour to be entrusted with this responsibility. I look forward to leading NAMCOR during this pivotal period and, together with our dedicated team, navigating the challenges ahead. We remain committed to driving the company to even greater heights in service of our mandate and our nation.”

With growing exploration activity and major discoveries putting the country on the global petroleum map, NAMCOR’s leadership is critical in shaping the future of the industry.

Under Sibeya’s guidance, the corporation is expected to strengthen its role in developing Namibia’s hydrocarbon resources while maintaining its focus on sustainability, local industry growth, and responsible resource management.
